Fresh air at the right time: how Fresh Air Minder helps

You open a window when the room feels stuffy, but by then the air has been stale for a while. Fresh Air Minder reminds you earlier, based on the size of your room and the number of people in it.

A good break starts with a window

A long meeting, a full office, an afternoon at your home desk: in a closed room the air gets used up faster than we notice. We feel drowsy, find it harder to concentrate and put it down to a bad day. A few minutes of fresh air is one of the simplest ways to feel sharp again, and one of the easiest things to forget.

A reminder worked out for your room

Fresh Air Minder does the thinking for you. It uses the size of your room and the number of people in it to work out how often the air should be refreshed, and then sends you a notification at those moments. A small room with many people needs airing more often than a large room with one person. For example, in a room of 4 × 3 × 2.5 metres, you are reminded about once an hour if you are alone, and about every half hour if someone joins you.

Set up in a minute

Open the app and allow notifications; without that, iOS cannot show the reminders. The app starts with default values, so it works right away. In Settings, you enter the length, width and height of your room, the number of people (1–50) and the time window in which reminders may appear, for example from 9:00 to 17:00. Use metres or feet, as you prefer. The app has its own language menu, with English, Czech and German.

See what the air is like outside

On the Home screen, the app can also show the current Air Quality Index (AQI) for your area, so you can tell whether opening the window is a good idea. Choose the US or the European scale. For this, the app needs your approximate location while you are using it; if you prefer not to share it, the reminders work just the same.

Private, with a one-time purchase

No accounts, no tracking, no ads. Your settings stay on your device. The only thing the app sends out is your approximate location, to the free service Open-Meteo, to get the AQI. Room size, number of people, units, the reminder time window and the outside AQI are unlocked by a single one-time purchase – not a subscription – through the App Store.

App Store More about Fresh Air Minder

Fresh Air Minder is a reminder, not a measuring device. It cannot measure the real air in your room; it makes recommendations based on the values you enter. It does not replace professional advice.
