Caring for a parent from a distance: how MindSecure helps
MindSecure Published Oct 19, 2026

Many of us live hours away from our parents. They want to stay independent in their own home, and we want to know they're all right, without calling three times a day. MindSecure was made for exactly that.
The quiet worry
When a parent lives alone, the worry rarely goes away. Is she all right today? Is he feeling well? Calling often can feel like checking up on them, and an unanswered call easily makes you imagine the worst.
A short check-in, a few times a day
MindSecure asks your parent for a short check-in a few times a day, at random times within a monitoring window you agree on, for example from 8:00 to 17:00. The check-in is a quick test of three simple quizzes: numbers and shapes, date and time, and everyday knowledge. It takes just a few taps, and two correct answers out of three is a pass.
You see that all is well
On your own phone, the Results page shows how the latest test went, with a short note on how it compared with the day before. Charts for the last seven days, past weeks and past months show how things are going over time, without a single phone call.
If something isn't right, you know within minutes
If a check-in is missed, your parent first gets a reminder. If it stays unanswered, or a test doesn't go well, you receive an alert on your phone within minutes, and the Person location page shows where their phone was last seen.
The monitoring runs on our servers, not only on the phone. So a missed check-in is noticed even when your parent's phone is switched off, lost or out of battery.
Independence comes first
Your parent stays in charge of their day. They can pause care while someone is with them, call for help with one large button, or send their location to a contact by text message. There is no sign-up and no password; names, phone numbers and locations are encrypted on our servers; and the app is free for the person being cared for.
Getting started
Install MindSecure on both phones. On the first screen, your parent chooses “receiving care” and you choose “caretaker”. Then, on your parent's phone, open Maintenance and tap “Pair with your caregiver”: a short code appears. Enter it on your phone under Add person, and you're connected. One caregiver can look after several people, and several family members can share the care of one person.
MindSecure is a wellbeing and safety check-in app, not a medical device. It does not diagnose any condition or replace a doctor. In an emergency, always call your local emergency number.
